Jewellery Care

jewellery_care_copy_400

To ensure the luster of your jewellery and to prevent tarnishing and scratching, store your jewellery in an anti-tarnish cloth pouch or airtight plastic bag when it is not being worn. Remove jewellery prior to bathing, exercising, cleaning, swimming, gardening and applying cosmetics. Exposure to water, lotions, body oils, cosmetics, perfumes or cleaning agents may cause discolouration, and affect the finish quality of the jewellery.

Sterling Silver -  Sterling silver jewellery is best cleaned with a polishing cloth. Avoid using anything abrasive that may cause scratches.

Matte Sterling silver - Matte sterling silver can be best cleaned with polishing paper. Polishing cloths will rub off matte finish.

Matte gold vermeil - Gold vermeil "vermay" jewellery is sterling silver coated in 22k or 18k gold.  Gold vermeil cannot be cleaned due to the plated matte finish.

Semi Precious stones- Semi-precious stones can be wiped off with a damp cloth for their best shine. Immersing them in chemical cleaners will eventually begin to damage stones.

Gold and Silver plated -  We recommend you use a soft cloth when cleaning plated jewellery.  Do not use chemicals or cleaners.  To extend the life of plated jewellery we recommend you remove before bathing, cleaning and exercising.  Wipe your jewellery pieces with a soft‚ clean cloth after wearing to help remove natural body oils and/or sweat residue.  Gold and silver plating will also eventually tarnish or discolour if left out in the open air. Because of this you should store your jewellery pieces in a jewellery box or jewellery case with the lid closed. This helps reduce the amount of tarnish.

Leather - All leather featured by our designers is high quality Italian leather.  This can be cleaned by using a leather cleaner that won't strip the leather of its essential oils.

Alex and Ani Expandable Bracelets -  May get darker with time, however they should not tarnish. Wipe clean with mild dish soap and water. Never take jewellery into salt water, and remove when using any harsh chemicals or cleaning supplies.  Never use jewellery cleaner on trend pieces. Jewellery cleaners are too harsh and may contain abrasives. We recommend using a polishing cloth for precious pieces. To avoid black markings either on your skin or the bangles, be sure to clean your bangles regularly. These markings are due to trapped oil and dirt in the metal and can be easily cleaned.

MarLey Rose does not sell imitation or fake jewellery.  Cheaper copies of our designer jewellery are produced with low quality materials that are not long lasting and durable.
